Are you in Kano or around Kano and wish to study Nursing but you couldn’t scale through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) and UTME stress? Do not worry. In Kano State, there are Schools that do offer Nursing via O’level qualifications and their own entrance processes such as: exam, screening interview etc.

Graduates from these institutions earn a RN (Registered Nurse) certificate recognise by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Does these schools require JAMB?

 

No. There are quite a number of Schools that don’t demand that you go through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) before getting Admission into Nursing in Kano State.

Some of these Schools are Government owned while others are Private. Although, these schools have similar or almost the same procedures of Admission.

List of  Nursing Schools in Kano without Jamb

  1. School of Nursing Kano, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital

This is a state owned nursing school offering a 3-Years Basic Nursing (RN) program.

 Method of Admission:

  • Five (5) credit passes in SSCE/WAEC/NECO in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two(2) sittings.
  • Candidates purchase the form from the school,
  • Examinations are conducted
  • After passing the exam, a screening exercise is being done
  • Applicants bring original and photocopies of O’level results, birth certificate, and local government letter to screening.
  • Forms typically go on sale middle of the Year around June -July

School of Nursing, Madobi (Kano State)

This is another state-run school that grants a 3‑year RN certificate.

Method of Admission:

  • Candidates must have 5 credits (Eng, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
  • Forms are sold at the Madobi campus
  • Candidates must register online or at the school and go for the screening exercise.
  • Applicants must present their original/photocopy credentials (O’level certificates, birth cert., etc.) at screening.
  • The program awards the RN license under NMCN recognition.

Private Schools of Nursing in Kano without Jamb

Nafisatu College of Nursing and Midwifery

Kwankwaso Town is a Private Nursing School in the North(Kano) and it’s the first private Nursing School in the whole North.

It offers Basic Nursing (3‑year RN) and Basic Midwifery. Admission.

The good part is that you don’t need JAMB to gain Admission.

Method of Admission:

  • Candidates must (5) O’level credits in English, Mathematics Biology, Physics and Chemistry in noore than 2 sittings.
  • Candidates must buy the application form and fill it.
  • Sit a college-organized entrance exam.
  • The Screening process requires original O’level result(s), birth certificate and Local Government letter.
  • Forms are usually sold in the 1st half of the year for the next session.

They’re fully Accreditated by NMCN (Nursing and Midwifery programs).

 Dansharif College of Nursing Sciences Yankaba, Kano

This is a private NMCN‑approved college offering Basic Nursing (3-year RN), Basic Midwifery, and community programs that also doesn’t require you to pass through Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to gain admission into Nursing.

Hamdala College of Nursing Sciences, Medile, Kano

This is a private college registered with the NMCN and NBTE (for ND/HND).

It offers Basic Nursing (RN) and Midwifery. No JAMB required. Applicants need five (5) O’level credits (Eng, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics). Forms are purchased from the college (or via hamdala.edu.ng), and candidates attend a screening interview on campus. Candidates are to provide the Originals and photocopies of O’level certificates, birth certificate, Local Government letter, etc.

Forms are generally sold mid-year; screening dates are announced by the college. It’s also NMCN‑approved for Nursing/Midwifery.

Aminu Dabo College of Nursing & Midwifery, Kano.

This is also a private NMCN‑accredited college offering basic nursing.

Admission requires:

  • A must five (5) O’level credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics in no more than two 2 sittings.
  • Candidates can apply online at adcons.edu.ng and attend a screening.
  • Documents to be provided are O’level results, birth cert, Local Government letter, etc.
  • Application usually opens mid-year and they’re fully approved by the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

Kano State has a lot of School of Nursing that requires no JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) to gain in access and go all in your desired career which is Nursing. The only thing is to have a good O’level, pass the exam and screening that’s all. Always check out that verified website and platform before proceeding for any payment to avoid being scammed.
