Commencement of training for Gerontology nurses at the College of Nursing Sciences, UBTH

The management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) is excited to announce that the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has approved the commencement of Post-Basic training for Gerontology nurses at the College of Nursing Sciences, UBTH effective December, 2023.

This is the first Gerontology nursing programme in Nigeria and Africa, representing a historic milestone for UBTH. It focuses on the holistic aspects of aging – encompassing the physical, mental, social, and psychological dimensions of health and disease.

Successful completion of the programme, spanning twelve (12) months, will lead to the award of a Registered Gerontology Nurse Certificate.

We are immensely proud to pioneer this transformative initiative in Nigeria and Africa, further solidifying UBTH’s commitment to advancing healthcare education and improving patient care.
