Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates into 3 years General Nursing and 2 years Post-Basic programme of the School of Nursing, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Afikpo for the academic session.The forms for the Entrance Examination into the School are sold every year from February till May. The entrance examination is expected to take place in June, while the interview is usually scheduled for July.

Final selection is based on the results of these examinations; and successful candidates are expected to resume training in the school in September, second week.These candidates must give written consent for the admission offer by completing and signing of the acceptance form, within two weeks of the release of the interview results.
The offer lapses after this two weeks, and the chance (i.e. vacancy) given to candidates on the “waiting list”.

The admitted candidates are also expected, at this point in time, to submit their Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) results/Certificate and pay for their verification with the appropriate examination bodies (WAEC, NECO etc), which is done by the School. Each candidate is then given her admission letter and the prospectus for needed items including:

• Personal effects for hostel accommodation
• Uniform requirements
• List of recommended text books

   For Direct Entry:

• Candidate must have five (5) papers (0’ level) at credit level including English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings in GCE, SSCE and NECO.
• The candidates must satisfy the panel of interviewers that they are academically, physically and psychologically qualified and fit for the course.

For Age:

These Candidates should not be less than 17 years of age and not more than 35 years at the commencement of the course.

• Post-Basic candidates should not be less than 30 years of age at the commencement of the course. They must have had their midwifery training in institution recognized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• All direct entry candidates must pass an entrance examination set and conducted by the school (or as may be arranged) before they are called for an interview. They will satisfy the panel of interviewers that they are both academically and physically qualified and fit for the course.

Original/photocopies of West African School Certificate (WASC) or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate with five (5) credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at not more than two sittings.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application forms are obtainable from the School at a (non-refundable) payment of (N15,200) Fifteen Thousand Two Hundred Naira Only into First Bank of Nigeria PLC.

Sale of form commences

Completed forms should be received in the School on or before  May.
