1. Department of Nursing, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi.
This is a Federal University, and of course, most Federal Universities offer Nursing. Getting admission into this school is very hard if you are not intelligent enough to pass both your Jamb and POST UTME for Nursing Sciences. Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital popularly known as UNIZIK started as a Community Hospital and later became a General Hospital in 1990.

The General Hospital was upgraded to Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital (ASUTECH). Thereafter, its name was changed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) when it was taken over by the Federal Government in 1992.

The school which commenced in 2000 is located in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State on the popular old Onitsha Road, Nnewi.
THE SCHOOL ADMISSION POLICY
The admission into the School of Nursing, NAUTH takes this process:
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
A candidate should have a minimum of five credits at not more than two sittings either in West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
RESULT COMBINATION:
A candidate is allowed to combine his/her results with WAEC and NECO.
SALE OF FORM:
The sale of forms starts from the third week of January and ends the third week of April of each year.
COST OF THE FORM:
The cost of the form is determined every year by the hospital management.
MODE OF OBTAINING & SUBMISSION OF THE FORM:
The candidate pays the fixed amount to the Bank (First Bank) with the receipt issued, will come over to the school to pick the form from the staff in charge. The candidate after filling the form returns it with three (3) passport photographs attached to the original receipt and a photocopy of such is also submitted together with the form.
CONDUCT OF THE EXAMINATION:
The Test Development of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) conducts the Entrance Examination in the form of aptitude tests. After the shortlisting, there is an internally conducted written examination followed by an oral interview as the last stage of the selection process.
The oral interview is conducted by the School Selection committee with the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee as the Chairman.

RESUMPTION: The successful students resume lectures in October every year.

Chief AFUKONYO EZEKIEL has been the Chairman Governing Council of the Board of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital since 2018.
The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi was established by Anambra State of Nigeria (ASN) Edict No 10 of 1988 as Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital Nnewi, and shared premises with the then General Hospital, Nnewi.

The General Hospital was officially handed over to the Teaching Hospital Management Board on the 16th June, 1990. Following the handover, a number of essential hospital equipments were either refurbished or renovated.
The Hospital was officially commissioned on Friday 19th July 1991 by the then Anambra State Military Governor; Col.Robert Akonobi, and the General Hospital was taken over as a temporary site. The Federal Government of Nigeria through Decree No 68 of 1992 then renamed the Hospital of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in honor of the late saga and foremost politician, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe GGFR.PC Owelle of Onitsha.

Anambra State government upgraded the Chukwuemeka Odummegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital School of Nursing, Nkpor, to the College of Nursing.

Anambra State College of Nursing Sciences Nkpor has been accredited by the NBTE to offer ND programmes. Admission for students into the ND Nursing programme for the 2024/2025 academic session is now available. This includes admission for the School of Nursing, COOUTH, Nkpor, and the School of Midwifery, COOUTH, Nkpor.
Admission Requirements:
Candidates must score a minimum of 120 in the UTME. Five O’Level Credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, are required. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent certificates are required.

6. College of Nursing Sciences Adazi- Nnukwu, School of Nursing, Adazi, School of Basic Midwifery, Adazi
St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu was founded in 1938 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha. As at that time, it was the only medical institution in the old Awka province and beyond. The ideals of the founding fathers were to carry medical care to the hinterlands. The School of Midwifery started training in 1940 with Grade II Midwifery Training after a visit by the Midwives Board of Nigeria.
In February 1963, the School was re-inspected by the Nursing and Midwifery Board and upgraded the School to a Grade I Midwifery training school.
The School ran both Basic and Post Basic Midwifery programmes until 2003 when it opted solely for Basic Midwifery Programme. The School is known for its good performance and proper grooming of midwives With the advent of the Reformation of Nursing and Midwifery education and practice in Nigeria and the upgrading of Nursing and Midwifery certificates and programs to non-terminal OND and HND programs The Proprietor through the help of the then Anambra State Government, rebuilt the school structure to accommodate both Schools of Nursing and Midwifery including their hostels to enable the institution move into the reformation, that brought about College of Nursing Sciences, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi – Nnukwu.
